One of the things I realized I miss the most working full time is changing dirty diapers.
You might think that's crazy, and maybe it is, but something about cleaning baby poo and getting my daughter all squeaky clean was one of my favorite tasks as a mommy on maternity leave. I mean, I volunteer to clean horse stalls for fun - it's good exercise, and I love putting them back into clean, fluffy stalls. So maybe this is really JUST a 'me' thing. ;)
However now that I'm back at work, and due to her strange diet of Nutramigen for her Cow's Milk Protein Allergy, we typically get one poop a day. And I can go a week without winning what we call "poulette".
It is pretty eye-opening how little I see my baby when I realize I've gone a week without changing her dirty diaper. And that is hard to handle. So while I know she needs mommy working and making money to buy her (outrageously expensive) Nutramigen, I know I'm missing out so much of her life.
And the balance between working a full time job and raising kids continues to battle out.
